A window film, sometimes referred to as a tint, is a thin laminate film that can be installed on the interior or exterior of glass. 3M™ Safety & Security Films are built to be strong and nearly tear resistant – which means an added layer of security for your school campus. For instance, 3M’s Ultra Series of the window security film is about 8 mil (or 0.20 mm) thick and has a tensile strength of 32,000 psi with a break strength of 255 pounds.
After impact, the film works by firmly holding together shattered glass fragments, preventing the glass shards from flying and hurting people or damaging property. The film’s performance increases when it is paired with an Impact Protection Adhesive, which firmly attaches the film to the edge of the glass frame. 3M™ Window Films, Ultra Prestige Series is a film that not only offers a security shield but also provides solar control film protection. The films are constructed using 200 layers of very thin films, each one specifically placed to deflect the unwanted effects of the sun, including infrared heat, UV rays, solar energy and more.
