What is window film?

Window film is extremely thin layers of metal making up what you see as tint enclosed between two pieces of clear polyester plastic.

How does IES window films work?

IES window films screen out heat and ultraviolet rays, while allowing glare-controlled sunlight to pass through your windows.

RESIDENTIAL

Will window tinting ruin my view?

Most residential window film is very lightly tinted. It is not the color nor the darkness of the film that provides most of the benefits of tinting, the special formulations of todays professional films perform most of the work.

How does window film affect the décor of the room?

Window film will not change the color of any of the furniture, fabric or artwork or accessories. Instead, the décor will improve because of reduced glare and fading.
How long will my tint last in terms of aging?

IES uses a clear distortion-free adhesive system that has been specially designed for years of performance, it is backed by a manufacturers' lifetime written warranty.

How do I wash my windows? 

After a 30 day curing period, you may clean your filmed glass the way that you wash unfilmed glass. You can use Windex or any other ammonia based product. It is scratch resistant.

What do I do if the window breaks?

If the window breaks, the window film will hold the glass in place, therefore minimizing injury or damage to furnishings.

Can window film be installed on odd shaped windows?

IES window film is professionally installed and can fit virtually any size and shape of flat glass windows.

How is the window film installed?

It is professionally installed on the inside of the window. There is very little or no mess, and no inconvenience to the customer during the installation process.

My office is too bright and far too hot.

Window film can reflect up to 78% of solar heat and reduce up to 95% of glare coming through clear glass. In addition, the reduction of glare and filtering of uncontrolled sun light allows easy use of computers on bright sunny days.

How long will my window film last?

With due care, your film will look great indefinitely. We guarantee the products for ten years for commercial applications.

Can you stop the stock in our display window suffering sun damage?

A completely clear U/V filter drastically reduces the effects of sun damage particularly on packaging.

Our building has older windows that aren't safety glass.

We have a range of clear and tinted safety/security films to strengthen existing glass against human impact, vandalism and theft.

I want to improve privacy in my office from my street-facing windows.

Privacy is greatly dependent on your lighting situation and window layout. IES will advise you on how much privacy can be achieved while maintaining good light levels. Often windows can be made completely one way.

Can our cleaners clean window film like glass?

Window film is easier to clean than glass, as it doesn't streak. Just a little dish washing detergent in water with a window mop and squeegee is all that is required.

Our glass is already tinted. Can window film help?

There are some restrictions on what film can be applied to tinted glass but we can substantially reduce your incoming heat and glare.

How long will my tint last in terms of aging?

IES uses a clear distortion-free adhesive system that has been specially designed for years of performance in demanding commercial and residential applications. It is backed by a manufacturers' lifetime written 10 year warranty for commercial applications.

Our windows are double-glazed. Can I have film applied to these?

There are some restrictions but tinting doubled glazed units is no problem. Generally, heavily tinted and strongly heat reflective films are unsuitable for double-glazing. However there are some materials suited to this glazing system.
